The hilarious true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the most eccentric singer in the world
In 1940s New York, the performer who everyone wanted to see live was Florence Foster Jenkins. Known as “the first lady of the sliding scale,” she warbled and screeched her way through the evening to audiences who mostly fell about with laughter. But what motivated her was the love of singing, of music, and an audience! This is the spirited, comedic story of Florence and her bewildered but talented pianist— and how they packed Carnegie Hall to deliver the spirit of the music, if not the actual notes!
